The Fonz will play the part of the dastardly Captain Hook hoping to steal the show in this year's Peter Pan.
As one of the first American stars to be cast in a British pantomime by First Family Entertainment, who produce the show each year in Milton Keynes, Winkler is delighted to be starring.
He said: "Being in panto equals joy, and playing Captain Hook gives me joy. How great to share this fantastic adventure with the audience in Milton Keynes."
The theatre's chief executive Elizabeth Adlington said: "We are extremely privileged that such an iconic international star will be enjoying the family pantomime tradition here in Milton Keynes, and I look forward to welcoming him to our theatre."
Starring alongside him will be comedian Andy Ford as Smee and further star casting is still to be announced.
Peter Pan is at Milton Keynes Theatre from December 5 to January 18 2009.
