Jason Crowe says he will play anywhere to help the Cobblers climb the Coca-Cola League One table.
The former Arsenal man is a full-back by trade, but he has become something of a 'utility man' at Sixfields this season, filling in wherever boss Stuart Gray has asked him.

He has played as a full-back, wing-back, central midfielder, and in the past couple of games as a central defender, and the 30-year-old admits he doesn't know where he will be playing against Leyton Orient tomorrow.

Crowe admits it is not an ideal situation for him, but he says he will play wherever he is asked to as long as it is of benefit to the team.

"I have been shifted from pillar to post, but I suppose for a manager it is vital to have somebody who is versatile and can play in numerous positions," said Crowe.

"It means that gaps can be filled if players are injured or not playing well, but I am happy to do that because I love playing football.

But I don't know where I'm playing at the weekend!"

Gray says there will definitely be changes to his starting line-up for tomorrow, and it could be that Crowe will find himself shifted from another pillar to another post tomorrow.

But wherever he does end up playing, Crowe is anticipating a tough afternoon against Martin Ling's Orient.

"Orient are a team that have caused us problems in the past," admitted the former Grimsby Town man who was part of the Town team beaten 2-1 by Colchester last weekend.

"I was looking at the table and they are below us, but Colchester were below us as well.

"Colchester played scrappy football, which worked against us, but Leyton Orient like to get the ball down, they play some good football, and they have some good players in their team."

Adam Boyd is the Os' main threat in attack, having scored nine goals so far this season, and Crowe is an admirer.

But he also knows Ling's men are no one-man side, saying: "I have played against Adam Boyd before, he has good movement and has a good eye for goal as well.

"But he is not the only one at Orient.

They have other boys up front as well who are quite lively and they have good midfielders and defenders who are strong and solid. It is going to be a tough game."

The Cobblers were forced to train at Northampton School for Boys on Billing Road yesterday due to the training pitch at Sixfields being flooded because of the heavy rain.

It meant Gray and his players used the artificial pitch at NSB, with a grateful Cobblers boss saying: "The all-weather pitch at the boys school is fantastic.

It's great they allow us to use their facilities.

"We also train at the Saints on a Monday because we only have one training pitch, and it does get frustrating at times when it is out of action, but we have to get on with it."
