Police car heavily damaged in Northampton town centre crash
Police, fire and ambulance services were called to Wellingborough Road at about 11.20pm last night, after the crash just outside the Costcutter store near to the town centre.
The road was closed for about three hours while the driver of a red Hyundai had to be cut out of his car.

Hide AdA spokeswoman from the East Midlands Ambulance Service said two cars were involved in the collision, one of which was a Northamptonshire Police vehicle.
The driver of the Hyundai was taken to Northampton General Hospital as a precaution, although no other people received treatment.
The spokeswoman said: "At the time of diagnosis, the injuries did not appear to be serious."
The circumstances of the collision are still not known officially, but Northamptonshire Police has been approached for comment.
One eyewitness said the police car had its lights and sirens on when the collision happened.
