How you can get involved in Northampton’s Cynthia Spencer’s 45th birthday celebrations and fundraising
and live on Freeview channel 276
As Northampton’s Cynthia Spencer celebrates its 45th year of providing vital services to the community, there are a number of ways you can get involved in the birthday celebrations and fundraising.
The hospice, based in Kettering Road, is calling on support from members of the public as staff ramp up fundraising efforts after a difficult year so the charity can continue to provide important palliative care.

For anyone else who wants to get involved, the charity has launched a tea party campaign whereby members of the community can host a tea party on or around the charity’s birthday.
Kelly Birch, community fundraiser for Cynthia Spencer, said: “We have tea party packs that we can send out, which are designed to help people host the parties with the rule of six in mind.
“We know people are still uncertain about coming out into the world so they can be hosted virtually as well.

As well as the tea party packs, the charity also has a hamper raffle campaign, which is an easy way for people to get involved and fundraise.
Kelly added: “The hampers have been created by volunteers from products that have been donated, so they haven’t cost us anything, but each hamper has the ability to raise £200 as they will be raffled for a pound a ticket.
“It’s a nice and easy way for people to fundraise.”
And Kelly says if the tea party or hampers do not tickle your fancy, there are many challenges listed on the Cynthia Spencer website that you can get involved in, such as skydives and more.

Kelly added: “In lockdown the world stopped but we were still here and the hospice was still going.
“The services are offered free of charge in the community but it does cost money and we did not have funds coming in as fundraising is what keeps us going.
“We do not now really have time to wait. If you want to do something and support us in a Covid-safe way, please do.

Kelly says the charity is also always looking for more volunteers.
