Do you want a permit scheme to alleviate the car-crammed streets of Abington? Asks Northampton MP
Northampton North MP Michael Ellis has launched a survey to find out whether people living in Abington want to have permit bays painted in outside their homes.
Mr Ellis, said: "For years I have had residents saying they cannot park near their own homes.

"It's especially inconvenient for older people."
I thought I would engage a survey of the residents to see whether they would like to start a formal highways department consultation.
The permit scheme would basically see residents required to pay £35-a-year to ensure they can park in a hatched bay by their home
on permit holders would be fined for parking in the bays and there would be additional charges for extra permits per-household.

If more than 50 per cent of people ar in favour of the permit scheme, Northamptonshire County Council's Highways department will then launch a separate formal consultation, which would look at which streets get the bays.
