Police puzzled by fly-tippers dumping tyres across parts of Northamptonshire
Police and council officials are scratching their heads over a spate of dumping used car tyres across parts of the county.
Daventry District Council tweeted this photo of a Silverstone-style tyre wall built with more than 100 old tyres by the side of Station Road in Brixworth.

Hide AdSimilar piles of used-up rubber have also been left near Brampton, Boughton and Harlestone — and alongside the A45 near Northampton.
A spokesman for Northamptonshire Police Rural Team said: "This incident opposite the allotments in Brixworth is just one of five we are aware of in our area over the last few weeks.
"If anyone has any information which may help us find out who is responsible, please call 101 or contact Daventry council via email at [email protected] or by phone on 01327 871100.
"Let’s stop these offences from occurring and deal with those who are polluting the rural area in Northamptonshire."

Hide AdHighways England dealt with a pile of 70 tyres dumped on the A45 near Northampton — but revealed they had managed to find a good use for them.
The tyres were collected and have been donated to an animal rescue charity to be used as 'sand baths' for chickens and geese.
Northamptonshire's household waste recycling centres are not licensed to recycle tyres and disposal must be carried out by private companies are responsible for gathering, storing and transporting them to treatment centres.
