Northamptonshire drink-driver banned after crashing into signpost on the A1
James Dexter, of Mill Road, Kettering, admitted drink-driving on February 13, on the A1 at Colsterworth, Lincolnshire.
Prosecuting, Daniel Pietryka said Dexter called police from the nearby Travelodge and told them he had lost control of his Ford Fiesta and hit a signpost.

Hide AdHe failed a breath test at the scene, telling police he had drunk two pints of alcohol and had breathalysed himself on a machine which told him he was under the limit.
Dexter, who was not represented, told magistrates he lost control of his car because a tyre had blown.
He said he had hit a ‘cut down’ post.
He was banned from dirivng for 18 months, fined £500 and told to pay costs of £85 and a victim surcharge of £50.
