Hide AdA spokesman for Northamptonshire Fire and Rescue said: "A hose reel jet was used to extinguish the fire and a thermal imaging camera monitored the temperatures.
"The initial cause is believed to be a deliberate ignition due to the location of the bin and it not being a bin collection day."
Firefighters then left the scene at 10.23pm. There were no reports of injuries during this incident.
