Residents were aware of a police presence in Broadway East for a number of hours as some say officers were still in the area at 4pm.

Despite posts on social media suggesting a gas leak, Northamptonshire Police has confirmed the police presence related to the drugs raid.

A force spokeswoman said: “Police attended Broadway East yesterday at about 1pm, when a small cannabis grow was found at an address in the area.

“There were about 50 plants seized altogether.”

One of the officers who attended the raid posted a selfie of herself and another officer ‘kitted up’ for the job on the Northampton Neighbourhood Police Team Twitter account.

She said the raid was a part of the team’s ‘relentless and committed response to drug use in our area’.
