A Northamptonshire couple have been caught stockpiling 17 times the amount of petrol that can be legally stored in a home.
Officers from Northamptonshire County Council Trading Standards received a complaint alleging that large quantities of petrol were being kept at a house in the Daventry area.

When the property was searched, 340 litres were seized from the premises.

The legal limit is 20.

Anyone wanting to report concerns about illegal storage of petrol should contact trading standards on 08454 040506.

Given the way fuel prices have gone, I'm suprised we haven't heard of more cases of this happening.

A few years ago there was a guy in Peterborough who blew himself up accidentally after storing a large quantity of petrol at home. It's dangerous, but understandable.
