The hard work of students at Northampton Academy paid off after the number and A and B grades at A-level rose to 27 per cent this summer.
This year also saw the pass rate increase to 90.2 per cent, showing a marked improvement on the 2007 results.

Principal the Rev Peter Hullah said: "The pass rate this year has been extremely good. We have made great improvements in students gaining As and Bs and our average point score has gone up the equivalent of one grade."

Star students included Precious Nwosisi with two As and a B, Nikin Vaja with A and B, Vienna Rose with an A and two Bs and Rebecca Caldiera, who gained two Bs and two Cs.
